Giorgio Poeta Organic Mountain Wildflower Honey is fruity, lightly herbaceous and floral with nuanced notes of sweet, caramelized nuts that remind us of pecan pie. However, no two harvests of this millefiori (one thousand flowers) honey are the same. Each year, Poeta allows his bees to forage nectar from over 300 different types of blossoms and shrubs high in the meadows of the Apennine Mountains. As the variety of flowers shift and change year to year, the flavor and texture of Poeta’s Wildflower Honey also varies, capturing a snapshot of the terrain and the season in a way that’s akin to a winemaker’s vintage.

This one-of-a-kind jar shines in all kinds of applications—drizzled over fruit, yogurt and fresh cheeses—but it can be used in any recipe that calls for honey.

About the producer

Giorgio Poeta discovered his passion for beekeeping as a teen. The son of two farmers, he earned multiple degrees in agriculture before starting to produce honey in the Italian region of the Marche in 2004. First and foremost, Poeta sees himself not as a honey producer, but as a steward of the land focused on the health and well-being of the bees and their surrounding habitat. Poeta practices what’s referred to as nomadic beekeeping, an approach where hives are constantly moving to various flower-rich environments far from pesticides and intensive farming. This unique method provides the bees with an ever-changing selection of flowers and consequently, a diverse variety of honeys with distinct terroir-driven flavors.
