Uncle Roy's Passion-Fruit Curd
It may be made in Scotland, but Uncle Roy’s luscious passionfruit curd has us dreaming of the tropics. Handcrafted using free-range eggs and butter, the curd has a floral aroma, rich buttery flavor and a lovely balance of sweet and tart. Big crunchy passionfruit seeds punctuate the smooth yellow cream, adding visual and textural interest. This curd is quite thick — not pourable — which makes it perfect for spreading and filling. Try it between layers of coconut cake, pipe it into mini tart shells or Pavlova and top with tropical fruit, or bring it back to Britain by slathering it on scones. We also heartily recommend folding passionfruit curd with whipped cream to create an easy, dreamy mousse.
About the Producer:
After stints as a meteorologist and a farmer, Uncle Roy took over an ailing grocery store in Moffat, Scotland and began offering all the fine artisan products that the larger supermarkets didn’t carry. He always wondered, “Why haven’t we got a decent British mild mustard?” And so, unable to resist a challenge, Uncle Roy developed his own line of mustards, which soon grew into more than 400 products under the name Uncle Roy’s Comestible Concoctions. We are excited to be one of the first shops in the US to carry his fantastic handmade fruit curds.
