Tamarind Drinking Vinegar from Pok Pok
Drinking vinegars in America, often referred to as "shrubs", date back to colonial times. These vinegars were commonly used as medicinal tonics, but have recently made a come back finding their way into restaurants and bars across the country. Som, the shrub of Southeast Asia, is a beautiful mix of sour and sweet with bright fruit flavors. For a refreshing non-alcoholic beverage, dilute one part Som with 4 parts soda water.
Tamarind Som had bold piquant notes balanced by hints of cinnamon and allspice. It's dry finish and mild acidity make this drinking vinegar ideal for tequila cocktails.
