Pomegranate Blood Orange Syrup from Feudo delle Ginestre
This product is a perfect "pantry secret weapon". Simply a reduction of pomegranate and blood orange juice, lightly sweetened, the flavor is at once tart and sweet with a beautiful thick texture. It's divine drizzled over ice cream or yogurt, and it makes a perfectly tart topping to waffles or pancakes.
But it's the savory applications where we think it really shines. We've tried stirring a bit into a simple pan-sauce for pork and duck breast and the results were wonderful.
We also have been whisking a bit into vinaigrettes - a salad of mixed greens with toasted hazelnuts and pomegranate arils took nicely to a vinaigrette of extra virgin olive oil, red wine vinegar, dijon mustard and a spoonful of syrup.
And for our absolute favorite way to use this amazing new product? Whisk together plain yogurt, a squeeze of lime juice, a bit of honey and a spoonful of syrup and toss with fresh fruit like apples, pears, orange and tangerine segments, pomegranate arils and fresh figs. You'll NEVER have a better fruit salad.
