Turmeric Infused Honey from Verdant Kitchen
Wildflower Honey Infused with USDA-Certified Organic Turmeric
Turmeric has long been used as both a culinary and medicinal herb. In 2012, Ross Harding and Howard Morrison—founders of Verdant Kitchen and rhizome enthusiasts—started growing this super root along with ginger and galangal in Savannah, Georgia. They use a raw food dehydration process to preserve the turmeric’s natural health benefits as well as its bright orange color and spicy flavor.
To make their Turmeric Infused Honey, the dehydrated turmeric—which is also USDA-Certified Organic—is ground and blended with local Georgia wildflower honey. The result is a healthful nectar with a bold floral aroma and mild notes of citrus and a touch of spice. Soothe your system with simple, rejuvenating cup of turmeric tea—stir a couple spoonfuls of turmeric honey into hot water and garnish with a squeeze of lemon and a sliced of peeled ginger.
Beyond turmeric tea, Verdant Kitchen’s Turmeric Infused Honey is also fun to cook with and pairs especially well with warm spices—from sweet spices like cardamom, cloves and allspice to savory ones like cumin and coriander. Drizzle over panna cotta infused with cardamom, bake into an apple spice cake or use to sweeten a silky mango lassi. On the savory side, use in meat marinades, vinaigrettes and dressings or make a big pan of Roasted Whole Carrots with Honey and Cumin.
