Among stone fruit-lovers, Blenheim apricots are one of the most coveted heirloom varieties, prized for their uniquely rich, sweet-tart flavor, as well as their rarity. Blenheim apricots are delicate, difficult to grow and their season is incredibly brief (sometimes just 10 days), excluding them from large-scale commercial agriculture. B&R is one of the few remaining farms still growing this type of apricot and their Royal Medallions are their top-of-the-line. Also called a “Slip Pit,” each apricot is picked at peak ripeness so the pits easily slip out. After their pits are removed, the apricots are laid out to dry underneath the California sun until they become tender, chewy and their deep, honey-like flavor has concentrated. When we’re not snacking on these apricots as is, we like to add them to cheese boards, dice and stir them into sauces, or mix them with spices to make chutneys and mostardas.

This product is packaged in-house. This item contains sulfur dioxide.

About the producer

Jim Rossi, his wife Mari and their son Brian are the owners and operators of B&R Farms, a plot of land in Hollister, California purchased by Jim’s grandparents in 1929. While Blenheim apricot cultivation has declined in favor of less labor-intensive and larger yielding varieties, the Rossis are committed to preserving this iconic heirloom fruit.

Fantastic!

By far the best dried apricots I’ve ever tasted! Not dry, just delicious.
