Italian Orange Peel Strips made with No Preservatives
We've tried candied orange peel from all over the world and this is without a doubt our favorite. Sweet and slightly bitter with a sour tang, these strips of orange peel are packed in a bit of syrup to ensure moisture and freshness. The ingredient list is short and sweet: just orange peel, sugar and glucose. No corn syrup, sulfur or citric acid.
Ideal for baking, decorating, cocktail garnishes or dipping into dark chocolate for an easy and elegant dessert, we also like to serve candied orange peel with cheese. The sweet and tart flavor complements aged cheeses like Ewephoria particularly well.

I have been making fruitcakes for about 50 years using the grocery store candied fruit as that was what was available. My daughter-in-law told me about Market Hall Foods and I was a bit skeptical. Candied fruit is getting harder to find so I decided to try MHF. One bite and I was a convert. Unbelievable fruit flavor, tangy, it tasted like oranges! I had some leftover orange peel so I compared it to the MHF peel. And threw it out; why waste time and ingredients on something subpar?
I love the product but the packaging was awful. I first bough the candied lemon peel cubes 6.6 lb package, and that was packaged wonderfully. I bought a second large order of the orange cubes and orange strips, thinking the packaging was going to be the same. About half of them were leaking, so I had to refrigerate them....and now a whole drawer in our fridge is occupied. Super annoyed about that.
But the product is good. Please get the cubes back in stock. And figure out better packaging for the smaller amounts.
I simmered it briefly in water to remove the sweetener. Was not as sweet as the usual neon candied peel to start with. I had extra after making fruitcake and have been nibbling on it. So good. Think I will buy more just for nibbling—nothing like it.
The strips in the package look fine, have not tried them yet. I will use them for my special German Christmas cookies.
These strips are wonderfully tasty, nice proportion. We actually use these in Manhattan's and they are fabulous. We also use the candied sliced orange peels, but if you prefer a less sweet option this is it!
