Spanish White Tuna Packed in Olive Oil
There's no going back to ordinary canned tuna once you've tasted this Bonito del Norte, or white tuna, from Spanish producer Conservas Ortiz. It is meaty, clean tasting and packed in olive oil to keep the flakes moist and flavorful. This 4-ounce oval tin is just the right size to top a single serving of Niçoise salad or to make the ultimate tuna fish sandwich. We also like to make easy appetizers of Ortiz tuna salad served on endive leaves or as a stuffing for piquillo peppers.
About the producer
For more than 100 years and through five generations, the Ortiz family has been committed to traditional, sustainable fishing and preserving techniques, achieving unparalleled flavor. To help protect the marine eco-system, the Conservas Ortiz fishermen line-catch every tuna individually in the Bay of Biscay off the coast of northern Spain. All Conservas Ortiz products, from anchovies to ventresca tuna, are carefully prepared and packed in olive oil so that, much like a fine wine, they actually improve over time.

The best and most delicious tuna. I highly recommend it for a sandwich or on a salad.
I must say, embarrassingly, that I do not eat sushi or fresh tuna...for a well-versed cook, It is quite amazing that I only eat canned tuna....now I have found the BEST!
Ortiz solid white is delicious. The white fish is packed in Spain in tasty Spanish olive oil....a salad with celery, kalamata olives and lettuce brings you to heaven instantly. Try it. Your tuna salad days will become memorable! Say good-bye to Star-Kist and mayonnaise! ORTIZ REIGNS SUPREME!
OK I will admit it. I am the ultimate canned tuna snob.
It’s embarrassing that I am so picky about tuna...
I used to say that there was nothing like the white tuna from Costco.
Being a long time fan of market Hall foods, I love to check in with Asha
and see what she loves... she recommended the tuna from Ortiz, and with
great hesitation I’ve ventured out and tried just one can. I was so annoyed at myself for not ordering 12 after I tasted this tuna. I’ve never tasted anything like it ..
And now I actually find myself panicking a little when I don’t have an extra can on my shelf ...I cannot recommend it enough. It is absolutely delicious. Especially if you live alone and you just want to come home and open a can of tuna and have some crackers with it. I leave you with one bit of advice. Do not order just one can and remember that I told you so.
Terrific flavor, texture and aroma. Great out if the can with just a splash of red wine vinegar.
When you want to whip together a quick Salade Niçoise, having the right tuna makes the difference between delicious and only OK. The Ortiz Bonito del Norte smells so good when you open the can, and be used with the oil or rinsed, depending on your taste. And it's always ready for small appetizers, stuffing tomatoes, and anywhere else you want real tuna taste.
