Named after San Francisco’s famous bridge, this triple crème gets its striking orange-red color from being hand-washed in brine for two weeks to attract local yeast, imparting a unique flavor unlike anything else. Golden Gate has a complex profile that’s sweet, creamy and savory, but is still considered mild and approachable for a washed-rind cheese. Fudgy and brie-like in texture, Golden Gate is a great addition to any cheese board.
How to use
Washed-rinds like Golden Gate pair best with sweet accompaniments. Séka Hills Honey, Dried Calabrian Figs or Leonardi Saba Balsamic Dressing are all great choices. Since Golden Gate melts so well, we like to use it as the gooey layer for tartiflette, an Alpine potato and bacon casserole or add it to our burgers for a real treat.
