Who better to make panforte, the chewy—spiced holiday cake iconic to Siena—than Biscottificio Antonio Mattei, the Tuscan baker behind our best-selling biscotti. Antonio Mattei collaborated with third-generation panforte makers Marabissi to make this panforte that’s rich with almonds, diced candied fruit and warming spices. Made in the traditional fashion, this panforte is flat, round and dense with a satisfying chew similar to a soft torrone or nougat.
We like to serve panforte for dessert, sliced into wedges and enjoyed with Vin Santo (a Tuscan dessert wine) or coffee. Already wrapped in Antonio Mattei’s signature blue packaging, it also makes a wonderful holiday gift.
