Italian Pasta Sauce with Tomato and Basil

Simple, exquisite ingredients like vine ripened tomatoes and the finest extra virgin olive oil from Abruzzo, Italy, make Rustichella d'Abruzzo Tomato Sauce our favorite all-purpose jarred pasta sauce. Sicilian sea salt sets off the sweetness of ripe tomatoes and sautéed carrots, while fresh basil adds complexity and generous extra virgin olive oil provides velvety richness.

This Tomato and Basil Sauce goes with any pasta, and the jar contains the perfect amount of sauce to dress a 1.1-pound package of Rustichella d'Abruzzo Pasta. The sauce also makes an excellent lasagna layer and, beyond pasta, we also use it as a base for stews, in braising liquids and even as a pizza sauce.

Fantastic base for any tomato dish

Love, love, love this sauce. It is a staple in my kitchen. Great base for any pasta sauce or tomato dish. Add to sautéed diced tomatoes, onions, garlic, zucchini, etc., or brown meat like ground Italian sausage, veal, beef. Quick pasta sauce, perfect seasonings. Easy, quick dinner. Better than any canned or jarred sauce I've tried.

My Favorite Sauce

After enjoying the Rustichella d'Abruzzo pastas, I decided to try this sauce. With a rich tomato flavor, a hint of basil, and the perfect balance of salty and sweet flavors, this has become my favorite sauce. I layer it in my lasagna, toss it with pasta, and have even used it for topping my homemade pizzas. I also find the 9.53 ounce jars are perfect to have on hand when I'm just cooking for two.

Not really that great

I purchased this thinking it's got to be better than what I make from San Marzano tomatoes at home... not so much. It wasn't really worth the price and the shipping.
