Raspberry-Scented Black Tea from Renowned French Tea House
Tea type: Black
Flavor: This fruity black tea is inspired by the iconic Étoile Mystérieuse dessert—a dome-shaped cheesecake enrobed in a red fruit and tea glaze with French meringue and red raspberry coulis—served in Mariage Frères' Le Marais tea salon in Paris. The tea itself has rich, juicy notes of raspberry and strawberry with a delicate creaminess.
Drink this tea with: Enjoy with a touch of cream alongside a couple French butter cookies and a good book.
Cooking with tea: Substitute for Marco Polo tea in our recipe for Marco Polo Tea Panna Cotta with Fresh Berries.
Words from Mariage Frères: "A true MARIAGE FRÈRES icon, the sumptuous dessert sheathed in a scarlet glaze of red fruits set on a French meringue with a raspberry coulis inspired this delicious black tea, warm with notes of patisserie. Shimmering, and mysteriously gourmand."
I didn't care for this tea when hot but loved It when iced. It has a slightly sweet fruity flavor that works perfectly for a cold beverage. The quality and flavor of the black tea is superb as you would expect.
So good with a little cream and sugar!
Étoile Mystérieuse Black Tea by Mariage Frères
As I was use to teas without the fruity taste when I first tried this tea I was not impressed but as I tried to keep an open mind and read the flavor, raspberry, I had the tea another morning taking in that flavor and began to love it. I also just love seeing the cute stars in it too. This left me later with a memory of warmth where now I just love it. Happy I found it.
I was fortunate to receive this for Xmas and was delighted not only by the smooth fruity taste but the sweet tiny stars inside. I normally use an infuser for loose tea but had to spoon this into the cup so I could enjoy them.
