You've heard of black, green and red tea, but what is blue tea?
Blue tea is made from young Oolong tea leaves that are lightly fermented. The flavor is somewhere between green and black tea— it's fragrant and crisp with a satisfying rounded depth that's perfect for any time of the day. As the tea steeps, the tightly rolled buds unfurl and tea turns a deep navy hue.
Tea type: Blue tea (oolong)
Flavor: Inspired by Les Treize Desserts de Noël—a tradition of thirteen desserts served after the big Christmas supper in Provence—this festive blue tea has notes of candied hazelnuts, French nougat and calissons. Blended with rose petals and blue cornflowers, the tea has a delicate floral aroma that brings you back for another sip. If you like Mariage Frères Wedding Impérial, this is the tea for you!
Drink this tea with: Savor the afternoon with a cup of Noel in Love tea and a thick slice of toasted brioche slathered with salted butter and drizzled with Lavender Honey.
Cooking with tea: Mix equal parts brewed Noel in Love Blue Tea and sugar in a small saucepan. Heat over medium heat until the sugar is dissolved. Cool and use in cocktails. We love a few teaspoons topped off with sparkling wine for a glittery, blue celebratory libation!
Words from Mariage Frères: "This delicate creation of velvety blue tea celebrates Provence and the 13 desserts of Christmas.
Fruity notes of hazelnut, citrus and candied fruits dressed with irresistible accents of nougat, calisson and other indescribable delights. A gourmet and sweet cup.
We are already totally in love with this tea packaged in a handsome box of stunning colour emblazoned with discrete little hearts appearing to those who know where to find them."
I haven’t try it yet and I think it would be good.
